Mawlaana Mawdhoodhi, the founder of Jamaath-e-Islam is criticised by scholars for his rejection of the advent of Dajjal for which there are many authentic ahadeeth reported informing of his coming. The method used or the words used by Mawlaana Mawdhoodhi when rejecting the coming of Dajjal are more dangerouse than the other ways used by deviants when rejecting a hadeeth.
The other scholars of Jamaath-e-Islam neither say that Mawlaana Mawdhoodhi is wrong, nor do they speak anything about the advent of Dajjal, they remain silent; meaning they agree with Mawlaana Mawdhoodhi.
Mawlaana Mawdhoodhi in his book Rasaa’il wal Masaa’il (pg. 57, 1351H Edition) said:
“The Messenger of Allaah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) used to think that the Dajjaal would appear during his time or close to his time. However, 1350 years have passed on this speculation (from the Prophet), many long centuries, and still the Dajjaal has not appeared. So this proves that his (sallallahi alaihi wasallam) speculation was not correct!!”
In the 1362H edition of the book, he added to this, saying: “However, 1350 years have passed …and still the Dajjaal has not appeared. So this is the reality.”
He also said (pg. 55):
“It is confirmed that everything that has been reported in his ahaadeeth concerning the Dajjaal was just the opinion and estimation of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), and that he had doubts over this issue.”
This is a clear rejection, and we do not know of his intentions but this is ridiculing the words of the prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). Some people made jokes, and mocked at the prophet, then Allah revealed the verse:
“Say: ‘Was it at Allah, and His Signs, and His Messenger, that you were mocking? Make no excuse; you have rejected Faith after you had accepted it.” [Quran 9:65,66]
He says that it was just the thought, opinion and estimation and that the prophet had doubts over the issue. This is blaspheme on the prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), because he does not speak out of desire, whatever he says is only divine inspiration; which means whatever he speaks is an Aayaath (sign) of Allah.
Allah says:
“And he does not speak from his own desire, rather it is revelation that is revealed to him.” [quran 54: 3-4]
Mawlaana Mawdhoodhi denies the Dajjal because 1350 years have passed and still the Dajjal didnt appear, this is not an arguement. Would one reject the Judgement day just because many years have passed and the Judgement day did not happen?
The reason why his rejection is more deviant is the words or the methods he used, because the other deviants when rejecting anything they do not accept it as the word of the prophet (salllallahu alaihi wasallam), but Mawlaana Mawdhoodhi accepts that it is the word of the prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), He says but the prophet was wrong.
